The
Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) is holding its 14th Sustainable
Development Conference (SDC) ‘Redefining Paradigms of Sustainable Development
in South Asia’ from Dec 13-15, 2011.
The SDC series has been established as a prime conference in South Asia on
development issues attracting leading intellectuals, development practitioners,
media, communities, legislators and policy-makers working in or on South Asian
issues.
There will be one main plenary each day in which prominent keynote speakers
will be invited to address significant areas as highlighted in the overarching
theme.
The plenary will be followed by two to four concurrent sessions/panels on
sub-themes.
Some of the broad sub-themes to be covered under the overarching theme of
‘Redefining Paradigms of Sustainable Development in South Asia ’ include
Environment and Climate Change; Conflict, Peace and National Security; Judicial
Reforms and Good Governance; Energy Sector; Gender; Education and Literature;
Transboundary Natural Resource Management; The magnitude of Illegal Economy and
Post 18th Amendment issues.
An anthology based on peer-reviewed papers, ‘Peace and Sustainable Development
in South Asia-The Way Forward” will also be launched at the occasion.
In the previous conference, over 100 delegates participated from 12 countries
including Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Nepal,
Oman, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, USA and the UK.
