| State Governance Strategies and Digital Sustainability Challenges: Case of CPEC |
| Abdul Majeed* |
| This study aims to see how digital sustainability challenges in state governance strategies can be overcome, especially in terms of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). While digitalisation has increased benefits and productivity in local and global economies, rising social challenges of digital networks, economic threats pertaining to fiscal disparity, and environmental concerns have also risen. Policymakers at the national level and at international organisations such as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the United Nations (UN) are exploring the fundamental concept of sustainability in terms of digitalisation. There are many viewpoints about how digitalisation should be governed and how to promote digital sustainable strategies. This study reviews three adaptive governance strategies such as laissez faire, precautionary, and stewardship which Pakistan can use in conjunction to respond to disruptive digital threats. The findings are discussed in terms of governance strategies vis-à-vis digital sustainability and CPEC.
