She is the founder of the  Society for Dialogue and Action at Lucy Cav, University of Cambridge, UK. She has conducted ethnographic field research and lectured across Europe, America, and the Muslim world. She has also worked on designing innovative courses and peace building textbooks for students and teacher training in the UK and in Pakistan. She wrote Sorrow and Joy among Muslim Women: The Pukhtuns of Northern Pakistan (2008), which was nominated for the 2007 Kiriyama Prize. She received her Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge.
