Munizae Jahangir is an award winning
TV journalist and documentary filmmaker, currently working at Dawn Media group.
She was an Executive Producer, Anchor and Special Correspondent at Pakistan’s
Express media group, where she reported and anchored for its Urdu tv channel and
contributes towards the English daily newspaper, The Express Tribune. She was
NDTV's correspondent in Pakistan from 2004-2010 and from 2013-2014. She has
previously anchored current affairs primetime shows, called “Pakistan Poochta
Hain’; an audience based debate show;“Siyah Sufaid”; a show on Afghan Pakistan
relations, “Sarhad keh Uss Paar”; “FACE OFF” interview based show tailored on
BBC’s Hard Talk. Jahangir has focused on conflict areas and has produced and
directed an award winning documentary on the war in Afghanistan, called “Search
for Freedom” aired on ABC;“Across the LOC: Kashmir,” (a documentary on Indian
Administered Kashmir). She has hosted debates between India and Pakistan.
Jahangir’s high profile interviews include US Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton, Senator John Kerry, former Prime Ministers of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto,
Yousaf Gilani,Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, Sanam Bhutto, former
President Asif Zardari,Mr. Imran Khan, MQM leader Altaf Hussain and Baloch
leader Nawab Akbar Bugti,Afghan Taliban leader Akbar Agha and Indian politician
Jaswant Singh.
Jahangir completed her BA in Political Science from McGill University and her
MA in Media Studies from the New School University in New York. She is an
alumni of Harvard’s Executive Program at the Kennedy school.Some of her work
for NDTV includes documentaries,“The Baloch Battlefield”; “Pakistan: The War
Within”(a series of half hour documentaries on the militancy in Pakistan’s
North West and South Punjab).Jahangir was honored as a young global leader by
the World Economic Forum in 2008.She is the co-founder of South Asian Women in
Media.
