Ms Nayyab Ali is a leading human rights activist, gender trainer, and entrepreneur in Pakistan who has worked with several local and international development organisations. She is the first transwoman in the Muslim world to contest in General Elections with political affiliation in Pakistan. Ms Ali is the National Coordinator of All Pakistan Transgender Election Network; and founder of the country’s first school for the transgender community in Okara, Punjab. She has been a member of the Transgender Task Force; and Special Committee on the Status of Transgender CNIC Registration; and elected Co-Chair of Ending Violence Against Women & Girls (EWAG) Alliance Pakistan.  Ms Ali has contributed to several policy-level documents such as the Transgender Rights Welfare Policy of Punjab; National Guidelines for the police on transgender issues; Transgender Welfare Policy; developed the Charter of Demand on behalf of the transgender community to the Supreme Court of Pakistan as well as translated the Transgender Rights Protection Act, 2018 into Urdu. She is also a qualified trainer on gender and minority inclusion issues. Ms Ali has undergraduate degree in Botany and diplomas in International Relations, Islamic jurisprudence and Dars-e-Nazami.
