Dr Rashid Bajwa

Dr Rashid Bajwa is the CEO of National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) - Pakistan’s largest rural development organisation. Dr Bajwa is the founding member of the NRSP team and tries to create out of the box solutions to help improve the productivity of poor households and incomes through market-led interventions. He sees ‘Micro Finance’ as a sustainable intervention instead of charity and has demonstrated its value as part of the value chain.

In recent years, Dr Bajwa successfully established an Agriculture Value Chain company that integrates small and poor farmers into a vertical value chain in sugar cane and rice. Dr Bajwa also set up the NRSP Micro Finance Bank and is currently the honorary Chairman of Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX). Earlier, he was Chairman Pakistan Micro Finance Network (PMN) and member Pakistan Administrative Service (previously known as the District Management Group or DMG) from which he resigned in 2003.
