Dr Zafar Fatmi

Dr Zafar Fatmi currently works as Professor and Section Lead, Environmental, Occupational Health & Injuries at the Department of Community Health Sciences of Aga Khan University, Pakistan. He served as Director for Community Medicine Residency Program from 2007-16. He has been a supervisor in Community Medicine for the College of Physicians & Surgeons, Pakistan since 2008. He supervises thesis/dissertation work for students of FCPS (Community Medicine) and MSc graduates (Epidemiology & Biostatistics and Health Policy & Management) and PhD students at Aga Khan University/Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. He directs research and academic activities of a group public health faculty pertaining to environmental, occupational health and injuries. He has more than 120 peer-reviewed publications and authored chapters. 

Dr Fatmi has collaborated for research with several international institutes and organizations in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Saudi Arabia. He is also a member of ‘WHO Global Platform on Air Quality and Health’; currently working as consultant for a project funded by the Asian Development Bank on ‘Health Impact Assessment of River Ravi, Pakistan.’ 

He has public health degrees, including FCPS in Public Health from Pakistan; PhD in Epidemiology/Public Health from the University of Southampton, UK; and PhD in Environmental Health from Jichi Medical University, Japan.
