Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri, the Executive Director of the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), is a prominent expert in sustainable development, poverty alleviation, food security, and climate change. He has been actively involved in numerous national, regional, and global policy-making forums and has represented Pakistan in various capacities.

Currently, Dr Suleri is also serving on the Pakistan Climate Change Council, the Board of Directors of the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF), the Board of Directors of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), and the Vice Chancellors’ Search Committee for Agricultural Universities in Punjab. His past roles include membership in the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council/National Economic Advisory Council; the National Advisory Council of the Planning Commission of Pakistan; the National Coordination Committee of the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Transformation Plan; the Finance Minister’s Task Force on Social Safety Nets; the Board of Pakistan State Oil, and three judicial commissions on environmental issues.

A member of the Permanent Organizing Committee of the South Asia Economic Summit, Dr Suleri has also contributed to the CAREC Think-Tank Network, Climate Action Network South Asia, and the World Economic Forum’s ‘Transformation Mapping’ initiative. He has participated in key international events like the UN Sustainable Development Summit, UNFCCC COPs, and WTO Ministerial Conferences.

Dr Suleri is a seasoned speaker, writer, and editor. He regularly lectures on sustainable development, contributes to academic and mainstream media, serves as Editor-in-Chief of SDPI’s ‘Journal of Development Policy, Research, and Practice,’ and is a series editor for Springer’s South Asia Economic and Policy Studies.
