Dr Shaheen Ashraf Shah manages the Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), Gender, Protection, Disability, and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) portfolios for the United Nations World Food Programme throughout Pakistan, including areas affected by conflict. Dr Shah’s expertise spans a range of topics, including issues of equity and inclusion, women’s economic empowerment, and the rights of marginalised communities. She has been awarded research fellowships at Columbia University (USA), University of Western Australia (Australia), and Loughborough University (UK). Her research, funded by UNHCR, the Australian Government, the World Bank, and the Charles Wallace Trust UK, has been published in international academic journals and books, as well as in national newspapers. Her academic credentials include a Postdoctoral Fellowship from Columbia University, PhD in Inclusion and Gender Studies from the University of Warwick, and an MSc in Public Policy from the University of Strathclyde.
