Major General Hafeez Ur Rehman, HI(M) (Retd) is the Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) since May 2023. A technology professional with over 37 years of experience, he specialises in national security, ICT development, spectrum management, digital transformation, cyber security, and policymaking.

He holds a BE in Telecom and an MS in War Studies from the National Defence University (NDU) Islamabad. Throughout his career, Major General Hafeez has held key leadership positions dealing with ICT strategy and transformation. His expertise spans deployment of advanced telecom infrastructures, enhancing network redundancy and efficiency, fiberization, RoW management, and the design & architecture of data centres. In addition, he has held prominent roles within the United Nations (UN) in member countries.

Beyond his primary role at PTA, Major General Hafeez holds board memberships with the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Frequency Allocation Board (FAB), Universal Service Fund Company (USFco), and IGNITE (National Technology Fund).

For his distinguished services to the country, he has been awarded the ‘Hilal-e-Imtiaz Military’.
