Prof. Dr Imran Rasul

Professor Imran Rasul holds a distinguished position in Economics at University College London. In addition to his academic commitments, he is the Director at the Centre for the Microeconomic Analysis of Public Policy at the Institute for Fiscal Studies and the Co-Director at the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Centre on Wealth Concentration, Inequality, and the Economy. Dr Rasul’s research achievements are well-documented in top-tier journals like the American Economic Review and Econometrica. His editorial contributions to the Journal of the European Economic Association and the Review of Economic Studies are noteworthy. Among his accolades, he has received the IZA Young Labour Economist Prize (2007), the 2008 CESIfo Distinguished Affiliate Award, an ERC-starter grant in 2012, and a British Academy Mid-career Fellowship in 2018. In 2018, he was elected as a Council Member of the Royal Economic Society (RES) and as a Council Representative on the RES Executive Committee from 2018-2023. In 2019, he was jointly awarded the Yrjö Jahnsson Award in Economics with Oriana Bandiera; and was elected as a Fellow of the British Academy. In 2020, he was elected as a Fellow of the Econometric Society and awarded the Order of the British Empire for Services to Social Sciences.
