Syed Mujtaba Hussain serves as the Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Government of Pakistan and has been a key figure in Pakistan’s climate change negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). With 23 years of professional experience, he has demonstrated expertise in project and portfolio management for development interventions. His work has encompassed a variety of sectors, including environment, energy, transport, agriculture, water, infrastructure, and urban management. Mr Hussain has a strong track record of implementing projects in remote areas of the country, organising local communities, and enhancing their resilience. Academically, he holds a diploma in Engineering and Technology from Lahore University and an MSc in Environmental Engineering from Queens University of Belfast. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship in Environmental Planning, Natural Resource Management, and Climate Change from Cornell University, USA.
